Overview:

Great games designed for our youngest players. The children are introduced to baseball and taught the fundamentals of throwing, catching, fielding and hitting in a very safe and fun environment. Typically a season will begin with lots of repetitions hitting, fielding, throwing and running. As the players develop, T-Ball becomes the game played throughout most of the season. The game is played on a smaller diamond (50 ft baseline), with a soft baseball, and generally we see a great amount of parent participation during the games. Some coaches like to mix in a little coach-pitch at times near mid-June. This game is played in adherence to Cal Ripken Baseball T-Ball House Rules, written and modified by coaches and parents over years of experience. All parents are expected to contribute in some way on the field during the season (field prep, assisting on the bench, or on the field working with the kids).

Parents Need to Provide:

Participants are supplied with a colorful, numbered T-shirt style jersey and a baseball cap (both of which they keep).

Parents must supply players with a baseball glove. Helmets and bats are supplied by the league. Players are encouraged to wear long pants to practices and games. All major glove manufacturers make moderately priced ($25 - $40) leather gloves (avoid plastic) for these little hands. Batting helmets are available at many sporting goods stores for about $20 for those who want to buy their own.

Schedule Information:

The regular season generally runs from the last week of April until the first week of June. Practices/games are held on various weeknights from Monday through Friday, and most weeks each team will have a game on Saturday morning. Weeknight practices usually start at either 5pm or 6pm and are over now later than 7pm. The schedule will be published after enough parents have volunteered to coach and teams can be finalized, usually in mid-April.
