Return to 2022 Spring Baseball Registration

Overview:

This division is a natural evolution from T-Ball. The game is played with softer baseballs on diamonds with 50' baselines but involves more aspects of a true baseball game. Pitching is done by a machine from a distance of 46 feet. It is still very much a beginning division for our younger players, and the focus remains on teaching the fundamentals of hitting, fielding and throwing, with a little more emphasis on base-running and positional play. Really, the idea is to have lots of hitting, lots of running, and lots of fun. The game is played in adherence to Cal Ripken Baseball Rookies House Rules, written and modified by coaches and parents over years of experience. All parents are encouraged to contribute in some way, on or off the field, during the season (field prep, assisting on the bench, or on the field working with the kids).

Parents Need to Provide:

Participants are supplied with a colorful, numbered replica jersey of a Major League Team and a ball cap.

Players need to supply running shoes or cleats, a baseball glove, and baseball pants. The league provides helmets and bats but players are fine to bring their own if they prefer. Players should wear protective gear (cups) to all practices/games.

Player Ability:

This division is ideal for players who have done t-ball in the past but you don't need previous playing experience to register for this level.

Schedule Information:

The regular season generally runs from the last week of April until the first week of June. Practices/games are usually held twice per week from Monday through Friday on various evenings, and each team will play a game on Saturday. Weeknight practices/games start between 5-6pm at 6:30 pm and are over by approximately 7:30 pm, latest. The schedule will be published after enough parents have volunteered to coach and teams can be finalized, usually in mid-April.

The Summer Development Program runs during July and August, and requires a separate registration that will open in early June.

Where Games Are Played:

Rookie Ball games/practices are played at Hollow Park.
